Garden & Landscaping Calculators for the UAE

Every landscaping job in the UAE starts with the same three questions: how big is the area, how much material do I need, and what will it cost? These free calculators answer them with numbers calibrated for Gulf conditions — sandy alkaline soils, 45°C+ summers, high evaporation and DEWA water bills — not generic figures copied from a European gardening site.
All eight tools run in your browser, work on mobile, and use metric units throughout. Start with the garden area calculator if you have never measured your beds, then move to the material calculators. When you have your numbers, send them to us on WhatsApp (+971 58 654 8551) or through the contact page and we will confirm quantities, prices and delivery.
Choose a calculator
Mulch Calculator
Work out how many litres or cubic metres of coconut coir mulch your beds need at 50–70mm depth, and whether bags or bulk suits the job.
Mulch Cost Calculator
Compare the cost of 50L bags (AED 55) against bulk supply (AED 500/m³) for your exact area and depth, and see which works out cheaper.
Garden Area Calculator
Measure rectangles, circles, triangles and L-shaped beds in square metres — the starting number every other calculator depends on.
Water Savings Calculator
Estimate how many litres and dirhams a year a 50–70% cut in evaporation saves on your irrigation, using your own water tariff.
Compost Calculator
Calculate compost volumes for conditioning sandy UAE soil at 30–50mm, in cubic metres, litres and bag equivalents.
Topsoil Calculator
Work out sweet soil volumes for new lawns and beds at 50–150mm depth, with tonnage estimates and a settlement allowance.
Delivery Calculator
Indicative delivery lead times for every emirate, plus guidance on whether to order buckets, bags or bulk for your volume.
Plant Spacing Calculator
Count how many plants fit a row or bed at a given spacing — hedges, groundcover and seasonal planting for the Oct–Apr season.
Why UAE-specific numbers matter
Most online garden calculators assume temperate conditions: loamy soil, regular rain, modest evaporation. The UAE breaks every one of those assumptions. Sandy soils here typically test between pH 7.5 and 8.5, hold very little organic matter, and drain — then dry — fast. Summer evapotranspiration is among the highest on earth, which is why our water savings calculator models a mulch layer cutting moisture loss by up to 70% against bare soil, and why we recommend deeper mulch (50–70mm residential, 70mm commercial) than you would see specified in Europe.
The material numbers are UAE-specific too. Our calculators price against real Green Zen sizes — 10L bucket AED 25, 20L bucket AED 40, 50L bag AED 55, bulk AED 500/m³ — so the answer you get is an answer you can actually order. If you are new to organic mulch, start with the guide to coconut coir mulch and the installation guide, then come back and size the job. Landscapers running larger sites should also read the commercial supply page and bulk mulch options before pricing a BOQ.
From numbers to delivery
A calculator result is a starting point, not a quotation. Slopes, curved edges, existing mulch you are topping up, and access constraints all nudge the final quantity, which is why we confirm every order on WhatsApp before dispatch. Send your figures with a couple of photos and we will sanity-check them — it takes minutes and avoids paying for material you do not need, or running short mid-install during the Oct–Apr planting rush.
We deliver to all seven emirates; see the UAE locations hub for area-specific notes, browse plant guides for species-level mulching advice, or dig into the science on the learn hub. Printable versions of several tools are coming to the downloads page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the mulch.ae calculators free to use?
Yes. All eight calculators are free, run entirely in your browser, and require no account or sign-up. They exist to help you size a job accurately before you order — whether you buy from Green Zen or not. If you want a human sanity-check of your numbers, message us on WhatsApp at +971 58 654 8551.
How accurate are the calculator results?
The maths is exact for the dimensions you enter; the practical accuracy depends on your measuring. For rectangular beds expect results within a few percent. For curved or irregular beds, measure in sections and add 5–10% contingency. We always confirm final quantities on WhatsApp before delivery, so a rough number is enough to start a conversation.
Which calculator should I use first?
Start with the garden area calculator. Every other tool — mulch, compost, topsoil, water savings and cost — takes area in square metres as its first input. Once you know your m², the rest is a depth decision: 50–70mm for mulch, 30–50mm for compost conditioning, 50–150mm for topsoil.
Do the calculators work in feet and inches?
The tools are metric — metres, millimetres, litres and cubic metres — because that is how landscaping material is sold and specified in the UAE. If you measured in feet, multiply square feet by 0.0929 to get square metres before entering the number. One inch is roughly 25mm of depth.
What prices do the cost tools use?
Current Green Zen list prices: 10L bucket AED 25, 20L bucket AED 40, 50L bag AED 55, and bulk mulch at AED 500 per cubic metre, delivered UAE-wide. Prices are confirmed at order time on WhatsApp, and commercial volumes for landscape contractors are quoted separately.
Can I use these calculators for commercial landscaping projects?
Yes — the formulas scale from a balcony planter to a hotel masterplan. For commercial work use 70mm as your standard mulch depth, add 5–10% wastage, and contact us for project pricing rather than relying on list rates. The commercial mulch supply page covers specifications, phased delivery and site logistics.
How do I save or share my results?
The simplest method is a screenshot sent to us on WhatsApp (+971 58 654 8551) with your location — that becomes the start of your order. There is no login or saved history; the tools are deliberately lightweight so they load fast on site, on a phone, in the sun.
Why do the tools recommend deeper mulch than calculators from other countries?
Because UAE evaporation is extreme. A 25mm layer that works in a mild climate breaks down and thins too quickly under 45°C heat to keep the root zone cool and moist. We recommend 50–70mm for residential beds and 70mm for commercial standard — depths at which coconut coir delivers its full moisture-retention benefit for 18–24 months.
Do the calculators account for slopes or curved beds?
Not directly. For a gentle slope, use the plan area and add about 5%. For curves, break the bed into rectangles and triangles, calculate each with the garden area calculator, and sum them. For complex sites, send us a sketch or satellite screenshot on WhatsApp and we will estimate it with you.
Will more calculators be added?
Yes. The tools hub grows alongside the learn hub and the downloads library, where printable PDF versions of the most-used calculators are planned. If there is a calculation you keep doing by hand — irrigation run times, fertiliser rates, planter volumes — tell us on the contact page and we will consider building it.
